Sennheiser HD 650 Headphones

Sennheiser HD650 really need a dedicated headphone amp to shine. Sennheiser HD-555, which sound very different from HD650, don't need an amp, are quite reasonably priced, and would probably work for movies better than HD650.

For less than intensely critical listening, and movie soundtracks and gaming, the Audio Technica A900 might be another good alternative:

And they don't need a dedicated headphone amp to sound their best.

🙂

I own HD650 and love them for music. They have a wonderfully pure and seamless sound, but they do tend towards a slightly dark and weighty tonal balance.

For movies and gaming, I think the lighter tonal balance and perhaps slight extra zing of the A900 or HD555 complements movie soundtracks and games quite nicely.

Thanks. Right now I own a set of HD280 pro and they have last me a nice while! Would the upgrade to the A900 or HD555 headphones be worth while from my older HD280 pro ?

I did have a problem at first with my HD280 pro headphones where whenever I put them on my head it hurt to wear them. Thats not the case anymore because I got use to them and they now fit me perfectly after suing them for so long. I was seriously thinking about selling them at a time because they didn't feel very good at all.

My music sounds great nice clean bass.

What plugin is this?

I have foobar2k, what plug in are you talking about? Link? I usually use my speakers, but if the plug in simulates binaural, then it might make for fun headphone listening!
