I'd say your are both correct .

I've had a beater pair of hd202's for the longest time and can honestly say i've never truly enjoyed them. Though i own a few other lot more expensive Senheiser's so that may have something to do with it.

On a side note, It seems many users who own both claim to like the HD201's better than the HD202's. Some also claim the HD201's are almost on par with HD497's. The HD201's can be had at Ecost for around $21 shipped.

Strangley enough you can pick up both the HD202 AND HD201's at Ecost for a grand total of $35.88 shipped. That way you'd have two headphones, one for home and one for the road.
