Senior Paper

Well basically to graduate high school at my school, you have to do a senior project and part of that project is to do a senior paper. My paper topic is: The digital revolution has allowed companies and individuals alike to share their content through the internet with a larger audience and retain the ability to distribute their content freely, unlike the approach the distributors took to make a profit. I just wanted your feedback on how I could change this to be more argumentative or just some ideas what to talk about and stuff like that. I just need some feedback. I am writing this paper for people like you guys here on ATOT. Thanks for your help you guys. It is due on Friday, so I need replies and feedback by Thursday Night so that I could take that into account. Thanks.

BEcause of low replies, I am just gonna hope I do good.

No offence, but this sounds like something you should be or have been researching..

If you already have stuff I'm sure some of us wouldn't mind critiquing it..

Ouch. My HS never had any of those requirements. The only things were: you must fulfill the state requirements to graduate and you must take at least 22 credits worth of classes (1 everyday class = 1 credit).

BTW, you should have started working on it sooner.

As for the topic, it sounds okay, maybe change it to something like "Without the digital revolution, companies and individuals would not have been able to share content as easily as they can do now."

Due friday, final paper for senior project, inadequate thesis, no proof of writing, no sources?

= good luck.

Sorry for not explaining this better. I have already written it. I did not procrastinate that much. I have to have a minimum of 1900 words, as of now, i have 1200 words. I just need to know what should I be talking about. I talked about podcasting, Creative Commons licensing, Xbox Live Video Marketplace, iTunes, YouTube. I need to make my thesis more argumentative and that is why I am asking you guys. Thanks for the help.

That seems like something I can do, maybe a little tweaking but I think that would be more argumentative than what I have now. I just need advice on how to change my thesis and what other stuff besides the topics I chose should I include.

no offense, but your thesis sucks. there's no way you can base a substantial argumentative essay on that.
you're fvcked!

Share content? "unlike the approach the distributors took to make a profit."

yeah fvckin right. unless you mean blogs and other editorial content. but companies sharing content for free? yeah fvckin right.

Sorry I'm a bit pissed, but I did just get a letter from the ESA about my torrenting habits. fvck the DMCA.

why don't you write a paper on how the digital world has inspired companies to further profits with paid content exclusively available online? not to mention lots of bs laws passed by bribes and lobbyists.

You could add a section on how ISPs have all but destroyed the original vision of the internet (a network of peers) in the name of profit. Most ISPs prohibit users from running webservers, mail servers, ftp sites, etc. from their home computers forcing users to pay for webhosting in addition to paying for their internet connection. Most users don't even know that this limitation is imposed by greed, not by any limitation of their home computer or connection (for always-on connections, anyway).

post a copy of your paper and we'll review it for you, I've had to do the same type of projects in the past (and it's nothing compared to college) Don't expect anyone here to write about that for you, if you need resources or something there is always google and wikipedia, and if you get really stuck ask but for the most part you're on your own as far as I'm concerned 😉.

Good luck.

I just want feedback. I am 90% done. I just need to get to my word count then I will post it so that you guys can critique it and provide feedback. Give me another hour. I am at 1550 words, 350 words to go.

I went to a magnet school and we had to do a two-year research project. In the end, my project ended up being about 80 pages. And that was the average. Yes, we were nerds with no life.

so far, you only have sharing of media (games, music, videos). what about everything else? information-on-demand, free share of ideas, shopping online, going to school online, online stock trading, etc.

I'll try to be helpful:

The internet and the subsequent digital revolution has singlehandedly given content creators the ability to share content through their own means with whomever they want; the times of distribution companies seeking out the best has been exchanged with unknown artists to share their talent and rise up to share their creations.

It sounds like this is your thesis, the ability to share content between individual revolutionizing communications.

Why do you start out with that question about podcasting? I'd start with the idea in the third sentence, "the ability of unknown individuals to be published content online...". That sounds horrendous in itself, I'd rephrase that.

Try to keep the first paragraph more general, leading in with a very specific example without introducing any other ideas is confusing.
