Senior aide to Barack Obama says Obamamaniacs' hopes unrealistic

Barack Obama feels like he is carrying the hopes and dreams of people around the world on his shoulders ?a burden his aides believe has created unrealistic expectations of what he can achieve if he becomes the first black president.

In other words; I am laying the ground work for my position to not make good on any promises I make and opening the door wide open for promising anything I want with zero accountability for it.

Seems like a typical con-man maneuver, always have an escape plan, and I think that this is all it is.

That's only valid if you think Obama himself has encouraged those unrealistic expectations. I think he's been far more positive than McCain, but the "true believer" types have definitely taken it too far.

Still, I'd rather embrace someone who is even remotely optimistic about this country, something that's been horribly missing from the last several years, and something Republicans are congenitally incapable of bringing to the table.

Yes, because a con man always tells his marks if they have unrealistic expectations before the deal has been done.

Is there some reason why this Socio troll hasn't been banned yet?

Yes, he hasn't broken any rules. Leave the moderation to the Moderators Vic.

Fair enough. I certainly hope no one complains about any supposed lack of free speech here while the Neo-Nazis are allowed to post their propaganda at will.

I think it's funny that the Obama believers think he's going to make a change and all of a sudden the US will be some organic, solar powered , utopia where everyone sits on their ass all day and the government hands them life on a platter. They're in for a rude awakening when the realize he's more of the same old BS.

I think it's funny that the Obama haters keep making up this bullshit about what the Obama believers supposedly believe.
Of course, you could prove this by providing links to threads here where some Obama believer posted something like what you just said here, but I already know you won't find that.

As for same old BS, that would be impossible unless by some miracle McCain gets elected, considering we're just finishing up 8 years of the only President in history worse than Calvin Coolidge.

Funny I don't know of anybody like that especially in this forum. Most if not all realize that it will take more than 4 years for anybody to fix this country after Bush, his cronies and his supporters have Sodomized the hell out of it for 8 years. Most also realize with Methuselah..err.. McCain it would be just 4 more years of the same old Bush Buggery.

Only people that mock Obama and his supporters think they think like that.

The media filters most criticism of Obama and makes him out to be a rock star. Obama himself is very manipulative and always teels his crowd that his "change" is all about them and they are the change. They like his speeches and get absorped in them just like a movie they like. Obama gushes a lot of happy talk with a serious tone that leads impressionable emotional thinkers (liberals) to invest themselves in him as if he was a minister of some sort and not a politician. Obama has been playing with fire since that cant hold up. Psychotic relationships always crash after an artificial high. German Leaders echo same sentiments:

"European fans will cheer on U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama as he visits Berlin, Paris and London this week, but governments wary of his inexperience and evolving policies fear the euphoria is overdone.

"There is a sort of Obama-mania in Germany right now, but I think a lot of people will have their illusions shattered if he does become president," an official in Chancellor Angela Merkel's office told Reuters, requesting anonymity.

"One reason Obama is so popular here is that people expect him to break radically with the politics of Bush, without any understanding of what this would involve," said Eckart von Klaeden, a German parliamentarian and foreign policy expert in Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU).

"Euphoria in politics is an invitation for disappointment," von Klaeden said

McCain could put a real beating on Obama is he had any game.

I'm thankful for these posts - as they remind me of the desperation of the rightwingers....

Like they've got their foot caught in a railroad track as the Obama Express comes chugging along and they watch the oncoming Train coming closer and closer....

it's a little bit fucked up to be happy about your friends getting run over by a train 😛

I think you'd be hard pressed to find people who really thinks that McCain is going to win outside of the most deeply partisan hacks, but I think they're just as delusional as the people who think that Obama will herald something significantly different than politics as usual.

Obama's not going to turn the world around, but I think he will do a good job of digging us out of the mess the last 8 years has mired us in.

I agree that Obama is very likely to win. I think even most people who support McCain if they do a gut check, they probably think that Obama's going to win too. The only way the GOP could have won this year was with a rock star candidate, and they don't have one. There's nothing that awful about McCain, he's just not a very good candidate, and he's not a very good campaigner. So... he's sorta screwed.

I never did claim I wasn't "a little bit fucked up." 😉

However - I'm not a believer that Obama will make the clouds rain sunshine and gold and the world will be the happiest, bestest place evar - which is the dopey view that rightwingers keep attempting to place upon those who support Obama....

with that said, we don't need another four years of eight years..... McCain is far more in line with Bush policy, so much so that the Straight Talk Express became the Tow The Line Caboose....

It's pretty intense how everyone loves attacking the 'others.' There are many, many fools on both the liberal and conservative side of the political spectrum... fools who vote out of snap emotional reactions, false beliefs and incorrect interpretations on economic and social issues. Everyone here should know this, so enough of these ridiculous generalities about the vast populations who don't think... it's unimportant.

Of course people get unrealistic views about Obama; the sound bytes are making him seem like our savior. Those uninvolved will, as such, flock to his holiness. Of course, on the other end of the field there were crazed men chanting '4 more years!' and saying how Bush was going to crush terrorism, make our economy splendid and spread democracy throughout the world in somewhat recent memory. Although, to be fair, terrorists have been effectively crushed and the world is now safe.

Nothing is new in politics. Nothing will be new in politics. That said, I will vote for Obama because regardless of pandering and other obnoxious political posturing attempts he is definably different from Bush and our current political stance and as such will be a breath of fresh air. Nothing, NOTHING he can do in his realistic presidential power could hurt the US or the world more than Bush has done.

Wait a Gosh Darn Minute...

Barack, when elected, isn't going to immediately cure my erectile dysfunction? I am OUTRAGED!!!

This has been a major issue for me, probably going back to one of the earliest posts of mine on this forum. The routine of pissing on "the other." plays very well into the game of people who have nothing creative of beneficial to offer except their erectile dysfunction troubles. Yah Dude. Far out.

..your obama is a political pied piper. your all to mesmerized to have clarity on expectations. he's the dope in your water pipe and your all inhaling.

The only thing those voting for Obama expect is not to have 4 more years like the last 7+ if he is elected like we would if that old crank McCain is elected
