i'm sending it back. i have a feeling though, the heat issues are not from the mobo. i'll tell you why. when I add or subtract a HD, add a sound card, switchsomething, I get different heat issues. this sounds to me to be a voltage or PSU problem. i have a seasonic s12 500W, and i know these are good units, so i'm not toally sure on that because i don't know how to test the psu is faulty or not. second, could be the cpu. i reapplied the thermal paste and got 8C+ mobo temps difference? that doesn't make since. if I get my mobo back and still have the problems, guess I will then know it is something else. i only wish I could rule out the power supply and cpu, but not sure how. alas...

i hope sending it back is worth the trouble

ps thanks for all the continuing help, and see other posts for backround info.

we'll see

edit: not sending mobo back. after a few fan tests, think it is a mix of air flow issues and room temps, keep ya posted
