sending myself ringtones

So basically I am not about to fork over $2 fot a 15 second clip, and the music they offer isn't really my taste anyway. So I decided to see if I could email my phone some sample .mmf files and get my own ringtones that way. However, what happens is that is comes in as a picture message and says it's dropped the attachment. Anyone have any experince with this?

Don't know about email... can't you buy a connector for your PC and manually upload? Might want to let people know what kind of phone you've got too.

verizon does the same thing too, i have a transflash card for my phone but you cant get mp3 rings unless you send it in a text message to someone else and have a copy saved in your inbox so you can save the ring to your phone, stupid huh?

I'm on Verizon and about 90% of my ring tones I uploaded through a usb connector, most of which I got for free off the internet, or, in the case of MP3s, converted my own to lower quality and chopped them down to first 20-30 seconds or so. I've got an LG6000 btw.
