Sending completed item?

Well I completed my first item late last night (my comp runs 24/7 with broadband), and I've got all the settings recommended by Anandtech in their article (y'know, the one that everyone has linked in their sig), and it's not doing anything - it's not transmitting the completed one nor is it downloading a new one with those settings (increased cache size to start work on a 2nd while I wait for an answer).

Erm, help?

What happens if you click the "Transmit" button? That will initiate an immediate send, even if you have "Auto Transmit" checked.

You may wish to try going through a SetiQueue, one of them listed in the stickied thread at the top of this forum. This will provide you an almost constant supply of WUs, even if Berkeley is down. You can use mine by selecting "Proxy Server" in SetiDriver, and entering the address of teamanandtech.d2g.com and port 5001. Click "Transmit", and it should connect to my Queue, and upload/download a new Work Unit. It may not be as fast as going directly to Berkeley, but you will be getting a Work Unit to work on 🙂

Another bonus of a SetiQueue is that it gives you lots of cool stats, and information about the Work Units you complete and have downloaded to your PC! Check out here for my Queue, and take a look around at the stuff you can get 🙂

Still nothing after clicking Transmit.

Maybe the SETI server is down (hence its a good idea to have at least 3days worth of cache) ,gonna checout my SETIQ logs,brb..........

[edit]nope ,seems to be getting WUs ok.

Tick 'display transmit' ,then hit transmit & let us know what error message your getting.
I'm thinking you might have the 'error 100'

check the box that saids display transmit and then you will see what is happening when you transmit the work unit. . If it just sits for a while you may have a bad work unit.
Go into your seti folder and check the info in the user_sah file in the work unit folder. If the info is incorrect you need to delete the work unit and download a new one unless you have a correct user_sah file on your machine that you can use to correct the info in the incorrect file.

Hrm...very odd 😕

My only next suggestion is to try downloading all the files again, and setting it up in a new directory. There are some times that an installation of Seti can just "mess up" for some reason...and the quickest thing to do is remove that installation and start again.

Try re-downloading and setting up in a different directory, and see what happens.

Exit Seti Driver, right click yellow icon, exit, and restart your computer. Start Seti Driver and the wu should upload.

If what Lane42 suggested doesn't fix it, it is time to delete the whole Seti Folder and start over. It really is a waste of time trying to figure out what went wrong. Hey, you may have just gotten one or more of the "defective WUs" that Berkeley put out ... they should be all gone by now so loading up a fresh batch would be the best course of action.

I'm not sure which set of directions you followed but the ones in my sig-line are known good. 😉

Even long standing installations mysteriously stop working sometime and starting over is the most efficient use of both your and your computer's time.

IMHO 😉

That's how my machines did when it got a bad work unit. Setidriver trys to send it but seti can't take it because the user_sah file is incorrect. I just deleted the work unit and started over.

Odd - if I close the program and restart it, it uploads no problem.

Smoke - yes the link in your sig are the exact directions I followed. The only change I made was a bigger cache.

Do SEARCH of your Seti Folders for a file named, "Result.sah".

If you find one, it is the completed results of a "defective WU".

Read a couple of my posts in this thread for a description on how to fix a "defective WU". 🙂

None of those files exist. I've got them all uploaded now, but I'll check again tomorrow morning (when my 4th should be complete) to see if it automatically uploaded or if it had the same error again ... I'll post either way for the curious and the post-counter.

Good to hear you've got it sorted 🙂

/me adds "reboot PC" to list of fixes for not sending completed Seti WUs

Okay, well I checked again this morning, and it's working on the next one with no problems. Dunno what was causing it, but it seems to have fixed itself now. Thanks for all the help guys - working on #6!

Hey Garry,
Noticed two clients running through your Queue from Syracuse, New York
