Sending a private message to a user

Hi,

I'm new to this site and am having a tough time sending another user a PM or "starting a new conversation" as this site calls it (?)...

In fact, I only joined because I wanted to ask another user a question about his HTPC's setup.

I don't see any buttons/links on said user's profile page to allow me to start conversation. Does that mean he's set his account not to receive PMs?

You need to have 25 posts to be able to sent PMs/conversations.

You need to make 25 contributory posts. I deleted the 20 or so meaningless 'test 15', 'test 20', etc you made one right after another.

Is there another way? I am trying to get in contact with an old friend for about 7 years now. It'd be so much easier if I could just message him. I was so close just a bit ago! ☹️

Make a thread in Moderator Discussions https://forums.anandtech.com/forums/moderator-discussions.56/. Only you and the moderators can see it. Tell us what's going on and maybe we can find a way.

Hi I'm having the same problem. Been a member since 2004, previously had the ability to use private msg, have 2 pages of older conversations but since the last update I no longer have the option
