Sending a package

I have a small electric appliance that I need to send from my home in Salt Lake City to Memphis,Tennessee for replacement. The item probably doesn't weigh more than 5 pounds.
What delivery service would be the best for this purpose: USMail, UPS ... I havn't sent any packages anywhere in years so I am a little rusty. Any help appreciated thanks.

Speed of delivery is not critical(a few days is fine)

Fed Ex express saver, it will get there in 3 days or less and it will not be smashed. You will also have the best tracking in the shipping industry if you chose fed ex, not to mention the best handling.

just take it to the post office and tell them to ship it whatever would be cheapest

I've sent a lot of packages through USPS and I've never had any problems. It will, more than likely, be cheaper than FedEx or UPS.
