I just bought a item on the forums for $175. But he was only taking money order, so i asked him to ship first and he agreed. He wants a USP money order, so how should i send it to him once i have the money order made out to him? Should i just send it in an envelope VIA snail mail or in a package of some sort with delivery confirmation via first class or something? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Edit: also, does the PO take cards or do i have to pay cash for a MO?

The PO will take cards.

I would recommend sending the USPS money order certified mail, or something that can otherwise have at LEAST delivery confirmation, if not signature required. I'm of the opinion that you should thank him for shipping first by going the extra mile in getting the $$ to him.

pretty certain that you have to use a debit card to buy a money order (i.e. enter the PIN) or (maybe a credit card cash advance--I would never do that though)

Yes thats exactly what i want to do, i appreciate him shipping first, and i want to make sure he gets his money. What is certified mail?

semi-related, will any place let you charge a money order? seems kinda ridculous that they would, especially allowing you to get rewards/earn interest money on it..

Certified mail includes something the recipient signs. This receipt gets sent back to you so you know it has been received. Go with certified (the PO can help you with questions) or Priority Mail with Signature Confirmation. Include insurance for $175. (Might check and see if getting delivery confirmation -and- insurance is in any way redundant).

Long and the short of it: I doubt you want to send it overnight (but you could). You tell the clerk "I need a $175 money order. I'm not sure what is the best way to send it but I want to make sure it gets there ok."

Certified Mail:
With Certified Mail? you can be sure your article arrived at its destination with access to online delivery information. When you use Certified Mail, you receive a receipt stamped with the date of mailing. A unique article number allows you to verify delivery online. As an additional security feature, the recipient?s signature is obtained at the time of delivery and a record is maintained by the Post Office?. For an additional fee, you can request a copy of the signature record before or after delivery with Return Receipt.

Might also scan the money order before you send it, giving an additional (though arguably overboard) assurance to the seller that their money is on the way. Also include any delivery confirmation number(s). Helps make transactions that much better.
