Question Send Text From Phone Without Cell Service?

I have a spare cellphone that does not currently have a service plan. It works fine for web access, music, etc.

Is there a way to send a message from it via WiFi only?

I assume you are referring to SMS messaging. Your main hurdle is you need a phone number to text from normally. There are a couple work-arounds.

You could use email to text people. You send an email address to their number@carrier.com. Such as number@vzwpix.com for MMS on Verizon (full list of emails here https://20somethingfinance.com/how-to-send-text-messages-sms-via-email-for-free/ ). And they can reply to the text like a normal text and it just shows up in your email.

Another option could be to setup a Google Voice number and using that on your phone to send messages. You'll need another phone with a phone number to verify with. But you can then install Google Voice on the phone without a number and text and even make phone calls from the Google voice number you got.

Yes! You can send Text from Phone without Cell Service. With FireChat, you can send text messages without any cell service and uses no mobile data.
Second way, you can set up on your phone with Google Voice and Google Hangouts, which allow you to do all these things over Wi-Fi.
