I have this huge folder of stuff that I need to save -docs, music, etc. How can I send this file over a LAN to another computer that is on my network. Both computers are running XP Pro, and the computer I need to send it to is connected via 802.11B PCI Card, and my computer is directly connected to the router via cat5.
Thanks,
Kishan

Edit: I have a Microsoft MN-700 Router

share a folder on the backup computer, use the run box to put in the computer name on the computer you are backing up from, example: "//computer" and copy/paste into the folder on the other shared PC.

so freaking easy.

Is there some reason you can zip it or tar it first? That'd make things alot faster. Even using FTP instead of Windows copying between systems would seriously cut down on your copy times.

I recommend using WinZip or WinRAR too, if possible. That will preserve the LFNs better, and will also protect against data-corruption along the way. It's rare, but I have encountered corrupted files after transferring them using Windows Networking. I now compress anything of significance between I transfer it.
