greeting fellow forumites,
i'v been messing about with VirtualAudioCable for a while but i can't get my head around it.
Essentially, i'm trying to get a wav (or other audio file) to play *into* the microphone input, so that it acts exactly as if i was speaking into the microphone; we're planning a VOiP party of sorts and i want to be able to bring some tunes.
Now, i understand that plugging a mp3 player into the microphone jack is the easiest thing to do but hell, how is it that we've had computers for 40 years and nobody's come around to create manageable audio streams yet.
Right, so i'v managed to get Winamp to play to VAC Line1, but neither of the playback modules (KS and MME) has an output to the microphone. I'm on W7 x64 and my audio driver is the Realtek ALC883; the HD manager doesn't allow me to select a specific source for the microphone. All i want is to be able to link Line1 to the mic's input without iut being reatrdedly reassinged as a line input.
Any help would be appreciated; i'm open to different suggestions if there is an alternative to AVC. Please note that i'm not trying to stream online or such. The app we're using has VOiP built in and as such i have no control over its drivers; the only way is to actually redirect the audio in the OS.
i know u guys are awesome and will fix it
