A senator was interviewed on our local tv channel after Saddam was captured. He commented:
1) The people who captured him should have thrown atleast two grenades in that hole.
2) Saddam will be executed in two months.

:confused::eek:

He deserves no better, but I think we ought to give the Iraqi people the satisfaction of a real trial.

I'm actually glad we didn't kill him on the spot- he will be able to provide us with even more intelligence, and we have a much greater time than just a few seconds to decide what kind of spectacular death he will receive.

One of our senators said that? Hmmm....well, I'm thinking we'll need to get some information from him if possible. Otherwise, let the Iraqi's try him for his crimes.

I doubt he will give all that much information, if any at all. He will probably just reaffirm that there are no WMD in Iraq. Either way, it will be better for Iraqis, Kuwaittis and Kurds to conduct the trial and sentence Saddam, which would also be better for us. Being sentenced by locals will be much better for regional issues.

I don't think the US will take the chance of tring Saddam in a real court their is to big of a risk that he might be found not guilty then we will look even bigger idiots.

Agreed. Perhaps by doing so, Iraqi's will be better able to move on.

This is not communist China or Soviet Russia. This is America. We believe in a fair trial. It is a forlorn conclusion that the bastard is guilty. Ever thought about that?

If it is a foregone conclusion that he's guilty then isn't this just like communist China or Soviet Russia? Saddam has certainly presided over a despotic regime but if we start digging too much . . . we may turn over some dirt that implicates the US in his activities (along with the French, Germans, etc).

Any senator that says lobbing a grenade would have been proper needs to be recalled . . . what a turd. This may be a great opportunity for the world to see that America practices what it preaches. The failure with Udai/Qsai may be corrected with Saddam but first and foremost Saddam should be tried by Iraqis for crimes against them, followed by Iran/Kuwait +/- the ICC.
