Nope.. There are A$$es all over the place... But .. unlike Allen's remark Biden's seemed to me to be with out a Bad Heart. He in my opinion did not intend to heap a slur..
Now if you want to point at someone.. try Bird.. he's much more of a racist mentality at least imo.. Him and Thurmond would be ideal running mates if they were both sentient..

Actually Joe Biden does like to hear himself talk and talk and talk.. I'd get really flustered when he was Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary... but he's not a mean spirited person at least as far as I can tell.. Allen seems to be..

No, my question is: what other words can't I say around delicate little Nancy? Can I say "bear" or "dog", or is that also racist? You can't just pull arbitrary rules out of your ass and then turn around and call your homeboy "n*gga".

This is America. Your color/race does not make you special, and neither do you get extra points for being from two minority groups. When I was a kid... hehehehhe and I do still remember.. the others would say some really interesting things which I'm reminded of when ever I read Zendari's posts.. like 'I'm rubber and you're glue.. what ever you say to me bounces off and sticks to you' OR.. ' I know you are but what am I'..... hehehehhehe

Did you see the guy? No one, and especially not a knee-jerk racist making a split-second judgement, would ever guess in a million years that this man is at all black. He looks Indian. Period. So a real bigot would've called him a Hindu or made jokes about India, not just thrown out some anti-black crap and hope it fit.

Put down your granola bar and think for a second. Or at least be honest and admit that your feelings on this matter are completely political.

I just saw the video and from Allen's tone and the expression on his face, it's quite obvious that he did not intend it as an insult - it was definitely insensitive and he was obviously pandering to the crowd - you know, point out an outsider, welcome him and patronizingly show how you are friendly and nice - except the outsider is not really an "outsider" in this case, which makes Allen stupid and insensitive for thinking that a person's color made him an outsider. He was still partly right in that the kid was an outsider to his campaign. I wouldn't think he was being so much racist as parochial. And as far as parochial goes, neolibs today are the most parochial of all  So, what's all the fuss about?

If you're reduced to tears by language, then just stay in your fvcking house. The rest of us are tired of changing your diapers.

You're right, they are just words, and I don't think anybody was (or should have been) reduced to tears over the incident.

But like it or not, what you say reflects on who you are. I'm not offended by one of my coworkers who refers to another one of my coworkers as a "stupid bitch", but I DO think he's a big dickhead. Which is how the system SHOULD work, people are free to say what they want without the PC police jumping down their throat about it...and the rest of us, in turn, are free to think you're a dumbass if you say dumbass stuff.

There is NOTHING like going to extremes to prove a point.

Bear or dog offensive? That's just being ridiculous.

4 out every 5 words? Now that's just a lie. I would bet (and win) that Sen. Allen said more than 5 words in the presence of the cameraman.

I could accept that if Allen didn't have a documented history of previous "insensitivity," or if zendari didn't always, and I mean ALWAYS, mouth off on the wrong side of almost any ethical or moral side of an issue.

Sen. George Allen denies a remark he made to describe an opponent's campaign worker was racially charged, saying in a statement that the media misunderstood his comments.

The Virginia Republican called S.R. Sidarth, a volunteer on Democrat Jim Webb's campaign, "Macaca" on two occasions during an event Friday in Breaks, a town in Virginia's southwest corner near the Kentucky border.

Macaca is a genus of monkeys, including the rhesus monkey. The senator's campaign said that Allen did not know that "Macaca" refer to monkeys. (Watch Allen refer to Sidarth as "Macaca" -- 2:32)

The senator should apologize directly to this young man and withdraw from the race. He's a complete disgrace. I'll be avoiding Virginia.

Republican and racist, big surprise there!

Given the fact that the Senator is a Republican, I'm sure he's bigoted/dumb enough to confuse any dark skinned person as a black. What race do you belong to Buck?

Yes.. I've responded often to his quips in what I think is a reasonable manner but he hardly if ever responds to them I guess cuz I'm trying to reason with him. So I've just passed up making comments most of the time to Zendari's one liners... He is no Moonbeam... hehehhehehehehe

I'm really in 'two minds' over some of the things these 'leaders' say.. It is required that they say something to keep the interest of the group.. they are skilled at speaking and quick of mind.. that they make some dumb comment from time to time is reasonable and not reflective of their true nature but when a family member steps up and paints a picture of 'insensitivity' more often than not it is true..

1. I don't eat granola bars.

2. Why assume he's a Hindu?

The lady doth protest too much.

I mean, calling the good senator a tobacco swilling cracker would be offensive, even if true. I wouldn't approve of that either. Keep in mind he kept a noose in his office and likes to fly the Confederate flag. Of course, that probably OK with you too. Anyway, try to calm down, I'm sure your provincial understanding of the World will right itself again within a few days.

Funny. When Democrats are under the gun all the lefties here chime in with almost exactly the same post, replacing Biden with Tom Delay.

I think there is a difference between being a former KKK member and a former school bully at the age of 12, yeah.

How bizarre. When I refer to someone with whom I'm unfamiliar, I might say "that guy" or "that lady", but "macaca?" If he wasn't intending to sound racist, he sure came off that way. And following it up with the comment about "Welcome to America", well that was just stupid. The guy is an American, born here. Perhaps this Senator should realize that not everybody born in America is white.

Your hypothesis doesn't make much sense . . . you really think Allen's tone and expression were indicative of a non-insult? You state that you believe Allen was insensitive and patronizing but only the former is consistent with being an 'accidental' insult?

I certainly concur that Allen is provincial . . . or at least pandering to his provincial audience. But I think it's suspect to believe there's not a prejudicial overtone.

"This fellow here, over here with the yellow shirt, Macaca, or whatever his name is,"
Sidarth had introduced himself to Allen (IIRC several days) prior to this event. You don't think Allen's address was intended as an insult?

"Let's give a welcome to Macaca, here," "Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia."
You don't think there's any code in there? Allen claims that comment was directed at Webb but who would have made that connection based on the context of what Allen said?

I still don't understand how Allen came up with Macaca. His campaign isn't claiming that it was a neologism or slip of the tongue. They are saying he didn't know it was a type of monkey. The staff says they nicknamed him Mohawk but later Allen says he made up Macaca. Considering Allen's old man owned the Washingtion 'friggin' Redskins . . . I don't buy any argument claiming he meant to say mohawk.

Damn! So someone is racist...go figure!!

Affirmative action is government sponsored racism....Hold one down to lift another? Great!! I think I will do the same for my own benefit:disgust:

To be truly non-racist, you have to be able to NOT SEE skin color, which is NOT possible unless you are legally blind. Otherwise, you have to admit that everyone is racist because we all see colors. Given that, you have to not worry that someone might call you a name or insult you. Unless you are directly affected by someones application of racism to you, shrug it off and walk on. Don't be babies...sheesh!

I married outside of my race, culture, and beliefs and was called racist for doing so. My children are called racist because they don't identify with the in-laws or my own parents group, but instead follow another path of their own choosing. Their hobbies and musical tastes are not what you'd expect given the skin color. They hear the names they are called, catalog them; note the ones using the words, and drive on a little more mature for the thoughts.

We are human and fallible. Get used to it

Wow. Sorry for the wide-eyed stare, but I'm not used to seeing common sense in P&N.
