Textbook example of ad hominem, and not even effective ad hominem (can you really trash Senator Clinton for what President Clinton did or did not do?). In any case, the real question is whether or not she is right. I personally don't agree with her on a lot of issues, if the Republicans run someone like McCain in 2008, I'll probably vote against her. But I think on this issue, she's dead on, as she pointed out, Karl Rove's earlier speech pretty much verifies it. The Republicans are going to, yet again, run a fear based campaign. It was what got Bush elected in 2004, and what has pretty much singlehandedly helped the Republicans gain complete power (for the moment). Supporters of the Republicans might suggest they are simply realists, and maybe they are, but the Republicans are clearly marketing to the ranks of the terrified.
