Sempron2800+9600XT vs Amd3000+X600Pro

I believe the 9600 series and X600 series are the same thing. In games, it's a tie, really, though the A64 will have an edge in everything.

I believe it is just the X600 Pro..

The standard X600 is a bit below.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory didn't run well at all on a hefty HP media center(3.4; 1GB; PCI-Express) and the standard X600...

No contest on the processor, the 64 is top dog.

As for vid card, ATI was king of the previous generation, but Nvidia holds the crown for the current generation. You may want to examine that option
