Sempron SETI times

SNC

Platinum Member
Any numbers yet? I will have one built Monday. Just wanted to know if anyone else has one now.

Life is not good a the SNC offices. 5 hours of playing around and still no boot on the Sempron system.
I am getting different errors on each boot. I hav egotten no help from anyone. So no seti times yet.

ive heard that times will be worse than with the same speed cpu in the xp model. i guess these are lower models than the xp series of chips....

I would guess that would depend on weither you have the socket A version or the 754 pin version. The reviews I've read on the 3100 Sempron 754 pin version puts it close to the amd 64 2800 chip in most things

two actually -

Epox 8RDA+ 200/400 fsb 5-2-2-2.0 timings 10x mult
Asus A7n8X 180 / 360 fsb 6-3-2-2.0 timings 11.5x mult

So your xp1700+ takes 15minutes longer/wu then my A64 3000+ @ 2,2Ghz?
Guess that's a little hard to believe, otherwise you've got a VERY nice system! 🙂

The socket 754 is indeed very close to the A64 2800+, except it doesn't do 64 bits..
Atleast it's a whole lot faster then a Celeron!

Did you notice the FSB speeds on those boxes? One is at 180 and the other is 200 on a chip that runs at 133 FSB normally. 😱 I have a couple pre XP Athlons at 155 FSB and they are right at 3 hours per WU. Well, one is, the other died due to leaky caps on the MB.

Well after 2 WUs on a Sempron 2400+ with 512meg of cheap RAM I have a 3:11 average.
Wiz I imagin if I cranked this up to 2G I would have better times. Stock it runs at 1.66G
I dont think the times are bad for a $60 chip, a $50 main board and $20 memory.

geez, my xp1700+ cpu's are turning in WU's in about 2:15 average...

really? my xp1800 does an average of 3:20 per unit....what are your computer specs?

yeah that seems about right... my A64 with relaxed memory timings turns out about 2:15 average/WU (stock speed 3200+)

Smoke was heard muttering...

Show offs!

Hey, a smokeball sighting!! Hiya Greg 😉

Yes, I like my cheap little 1700+ cpu's Been good for a lot of WU's
I get a range of 2:00 - 2:30 on them for several thousand WU's now.

Contrast that with a 2400+ I have running stock (the mobo doesn't OC) that gets times of 3:00 per WU. :|

My XP2400 @2.22GHz does WUs in 2.3hrs 😀 😉(average WUs)

Though thats only about 7mins quicker than the XP1700 @2.04GHz I had ,both 177FSB

SNC
The Sempron Socket As are just T'bred B cores so they should overclock nicely🙂 ,can you crank up the FSB?
