Dunno if you guys have seen this already, but this is what I received from AMD today:

AMD is announcing a revision change for its Desktop AMD Sempron? processor 3100+, from revision CG to D0. This new revision is expected to start shipping starting the 1st November 2004.

The new version is pin-to-pin compatible with the current version, but a new BIOS will be required to recognize the new CPU id (CPU Id 00000FC0h will change to 00010FC0h).

Therefore, we recommend you consult your motherboard vendor for the latest BIOS version.Furthermore, the manufacturing process of this processor is changing from 0.13µ to 0.09µ.

Yours sincerely

Makes you wonder if AMD will ever switch over to .09 with their XP line of Sempron chips?? Would be interesting if they did.

You mean .09 for the Athlon XP range? That would be interesting if they did, and even more so for the Mobile processors. Imagine the speeds.

*shudder*

But we'd need a very good improvement to make any tranisition worthwhile.

I think the XP line has taken us as far as it can. Even the fastest XP's are no match for the majority of A64's.
