Sempron 3100 Built and waiting on times

Just finished putting together a Sempron 3100 with a gig of RAM and a SATA RAID 1.
I am going to run it stock for 24 hours and then start cranking it up and see where she fails.

I was installing drivers and SP2 while that WU was being done.
I hope it gets better than that.

Well, not so good. Bumped it up 10 ticks booted then locked up. After a reset the file system was gone.
Sort of blwe my mind. Reinstalled XP and bumped it up 5 ticks. Same thing. Running stock now and its going to stay there. I still cant figure out what would cause the FS to go south. I will have to play around one day.

Wow, that's a weird problem... Maybe it's the IDE controller (which might use a PCI bus) which couldn't stand the higher speeds?
When you don't have a PCI lock, if you change the FSB the PCI clock will rise to.. But I've never heard of an IDE controller to freak out😕

I had this problem one time when trying to run a K6-2 333 (66 MHz FSB) at 350 (100 MHz FSB). This CPU constantly crashed my FS when I used a FSB >= 75 MHz no matter what the frequency was. I tried at 300 (3 X 100) and this ba...rd crashed my FS once again...
Good luck with your new toy. 🙂
