sempron 2800+

If it's a Socket 754 or Socket AM2 Sempron 64, then yeah, it'd probably be Ok in games with that card; I assume you're only choosing Sempron because that's all you can afford or you already have it?

Should be an ok setup. I just put together a Sempy 3100+ and a 7600GS fanless for my brother in law. I was playing Far Cry with everything maxed out, 1280x1024 (no HDR). Played nice and smooth though I didn't get a frame rate reading. I would suggest seeing if you can overclock it a couple of hundred Mhz (should be doable).

what are you talking, i have amd 64bit 3200 s939, 1gb ram, 6600GT PCI E 128mb and yet farcry doesn't run all that smooth/well at 1024*768, max , I don't know hot to turn hdr on.

Well, It could be the vid card? Or maybe having only 1GB RAM - 2GB makes things smoother where new parts of the level are loaded dynamically - it's most likely that, or maybe even driver issues?

akshayt, A55 is right. Your video card is not horrible but I wouldn't expect a smooth game with 1GB. Besides that, the 7600gs has 256MB which I am sure helps in texture intensive games. Trust me, this card is no slouch, and is a hell of a deal for ~$100.

weird. my x800gt (=6600gt) runs farcry at 1280x1028 maxed out (sm2 only though so no hdr). perhaps try reinstalling drivers, removing viruses (avg) and adware (ad-aware).

to the OP probably it'll be fine. maybe bottleneck at lower res but with a 7600gt your not gonna be playing at 800x600 are you. at high res the bottle neck will be your video card.

ps. awesome choice.
