Sempron 2800+ vs XP3000 333mhz.

They both cost about the same, but I was wondering which was better? I will be doing mostly video editing using xvid. I think that the 3000+ 333mhz will be better, but thought I would ask.

yeah, if you are concerned about price, get a mobile 2600 and an abit nf7 (i think) board and overclock it to 3200 or better speed. or if you want faster get a 2800 sempron and the chaintech nforce 3 board and overclock it to like 2.4 GHz.

the sempron and mobile bartons are great overclockers and should not be wasted at stock speeds. personally i think the sempron is the way to go

The problem I have is I have an Asus A7v8x-x and I don't know if it will overclock. I just read the sempron article and saw the divx encoding times and think I might just opt for a lower cpu like the 2700+ or something. Money is really tight for me right now and I need to be very concious about what I spend. The main thing I do with my computer is watch tv, capture video, and edit it. I currently have an 2000+, but thought a processor with 333 fsb might be faster and worth the money.

Thanks for all the ideas and input.

The Athlon 64 has a better memory controller.

The Asus A7N8X-X does not support Dual DDR.

Athlon 64 can be upgraded to around a 3400.

You can use the Sempron 3100.
