They are the few, the proud, the banished by their wives to the basement or the garage.
On NPR just now, I heard one of them use a lovely unofficial slogan appropriated from the Marines, parts of other services, and a host of civilian first responders . . . Semper Gumby . . . Always Flexible!

"We need 50 of your best radio operators to go down to Puerto Rico."
