Hey all, whenever I build a new system I like to make sure that it's perfectly stable. I run through the standard programs such as prime95, 3dmark, etc...Sometime last year, I put my system together (XP 1800+, 512 PC 2700 RAM) and started going through all of these tests and it remained perfectly stable. Then I ran Distributed Folding with the extra ram option and corrupt files started showing up. This was on Windows XP. I formatted and tried it all again and again files became corrupt when I started running DF. I decided to give Win2K a shot and it remained perfectly stable through all of the tests AND DF. So I was running 2K until now.
I'm just a little puzzled as to why I was getting corrupted files so right now I reinstalled XP and I'm running through all of the programs recommended in the CPU forum. I'll finally test DF after all of those tests. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Should DF be considered the best stability test for a system?
Or is it just something b0rked in Windows XP?
