Semi OT: Cruncher with hdd problems.

So I'm sitting here and the hdd bites the dust on my linux cruncher. So, the only drive I have to replace it with is a IBM 75GXP 45gigger, which is sill in perfect working order. But this isn't the first time I have had a problem with this hdd and the mobo on this rig(Abit BE6-II). Back when I was actually running the hdd on that mobo, which was well over a two years ago, I had problems getting the drive to reconize properly. I just went through all the settings and what not and tried every combination I could in the BIOS, I even used the drive parameters from the label, which were detected correctly. Any ideas? I wanna beat somthing to deal at the moment I am so frustrated. I can install operating systems, but all I get is the lovely message "Error Loading Operating System".

By the way, I am attempting to install Windows Server 2003 RC2 on this rig for my queue and other duties, I also tried NT4, 95, 98 FE, 2000, and XP. All with full formats, none of those quickies so I'm pretty confident its not a MBR or boot sector problem. 😱

Any ideas anyone?

EDIT: Oh and forget about the UDMA66 controller thats on the board, I don't have a floppy drive in the rig, so I can't load the drivers for it when the Win2k3 server installation starts. 🙁
