Semi OT: Age policy in canada for car rental

foges

Senior member
My grandparents and I are concidering visiting Cananda - British Columbia
this summer and renting a car. I am currently 19 years old and live in
Switzerland and have a Swiss drivers licence, my grandparents both have a
drivers licence. My grandparents would obviously be the main renters of the vehicle. Does anyone know a company which would allow for me to drive the car as well, or any other way to get around the age 21 rule?

Thanks

Only checked one rental company, but on this page Hertz.ca regarding Age it gives a link to "Rental Qualification and Requirements" it says
==================

Mininum rental age is 21 for Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Standard and Fullsize cars.

For renters 21 to 24 years of age a CAD 27.00 per day Under Age Surcharge will be applied to the rental.

Minimum rental age is 25 for all other vehicles.

It doesn't say anything about others driving the car. I think you could(not legally though), but if you do you'll want to be sure not to do it without the actual Renter in the car and you'd have to keep in mind that if you get in an accident(or something) they would have to take the blame. May not be a good idea to try though.
