The new San Diego's are almost here:D so I thought I would follow Painmans lead and start an overclocking thread for them. The rules are simple, no biting, no kicking, no cheatin or lyin, use the template below and attach screenies to your amazing results is you don't want us to call BS. I will upate this post with Summary results as I can.
Have fun:beer:

*edit*
GAMING BENCHES AND COMPARISONS NEEDED
My preliminary results are showing some monster increases in HL2 and newer games vs. Winchester. For those of you who will be changing chips, run some benches on your old chip and new chip keeping CPU mhz and ram mhz equal(or as close as possible), especially gaming benches. It looks like the SD core puts a serious whooopin on the other cores in gaming, we just need to verify

**** data in the template is for example, as I don't have my chip yet********

My DFI NF4-D and OCZ PC4000 VX are waiting for the 3700+ to come in on Monday. This is the first time I wished my weekend to be short!

If anyone is going to run one on a A8N-SLi Deluxe please please try on an older BIOS before a new one to see if it posts :)

Aargh! My 3700+ just got here today along with the eVGA 6800GT, but I'm still waiting on the heatsink (Zalman 7700 CU).

It's been three years since my last build. I'm anxious to see what my new rig is capable of.

Here is a comparison of the San Diego 3700+ to my Winchester 3200+ at 2200mhz

-----------------------------------San Diego 3700+-------------------Winchester 3200+
---------------------------------------2211mhz------------------------------2202 mhz---0.41 %
--------------------------------ram=201mhz 2-2-2-5---------------ram=220mhz 2-2-2-5

--------------------------Float-----------5629-----------------------------------5197----8.31%

Sandra CPU----Dhrystone---------10221----------------------------------10195---0.26%
-------------------Whetstone----------3491----------------------------------3479----0.34%

SuperPI 8mb-----------seconds------409------------------------------------435-----6.36%

Aquamark3---------------GFX---------7752---------------------------------7659-----1.21%

3dmark03-------------------------------8391---------------------------------8220----2.08%

Half Life 2 1024x768 FPS avg--------94.5-----------------------------------80.2---17.83%

X2 the threat---------- FPS avg--------88.7-----------------------------------75.5---17.48%

A couple of things really surprized me here.

1. With 20mhz less speed the SD score 10% higher in memory bandwidth? WTF? is this the L2 cache at work?

2. The SD makes a surprizing difference in the new games

I just checked over at Xtreme, and everybody seems to be hitting 2.8 with ease on Air
:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

They've also confirmed that San Diego has the cold bug below -60c. But I don't give a shite about that. heheheheh

Now we're talking.

Who wants a Venice? Not me anymore :p
Edit: I didn't realize the massive price difference...i guess you really do pay for what you get in this case...

Methinks San Diego is teh way to go, though only time will tell :) (& price too)

UN-FRICKIN-BELIEVABLE!!! :Q :p

How the hell did 512k more L2 increase the gaming performance by 17%???
In the jump (backwards) from Northwood to Prescott, we saw there was at best 1 or 2% performance increase, same in Prescott to Prescott 2M. Also look at the performance diff between the 512K L2 A64 3800+ and 1MB 4000+, the 1MB L2 of 4000+ gives it a 4% advantage at best in games. Where the hell did this 17% improvement come from? Is there some architectural difference?

GuitarDaddy, don't take this wrongly :p, I respect you and all :) (thanks again for the help you've given me in questions I've posted in the past ;)), but I am almost tempted to call BS to your bechmarking methods, this is so weird. Waiting for tests from other guys here, as well as review websites. But thanks to GuitarDaddy for these extensive tests

Weird!
And oh, the OC results are so MUCH better than what we've seen with Venice. Glad I didn't order one :)

IF the SD core is 17% faster than similar clock Winchester/Venice/Newcastle, that means the 2.2GHz 3700+ is faster than the FX-55 in games like Half-Life 2. Did I say UN-FRICKIN-BELIEVABLE?
