I blasted out my PC today with some compressed air, hooked it all back up and am getting some semi-high temps. This is idle, with my q6600 @ 2.7ghz.

and my case is relatively free of cables. and has decent airflow (despite the front fan being blocked by hard drives. Sometimes on load my "system" will get up to 60-65. Should I consider fastening a tiny fan onto it? And how about that hdd temp?

edit: woah that was a shitty crop job by me on the screen shot. Uploaded a better crop

I think sub-40 idle and 60-65 load is pretty good. I definitely wouldn't worry about it. As for the hard drives, though, that seems a bit high. Turn the intake fans up a bit, see if that helps.

its on as high as it can go on my fan controller. they are quite old...5-6 years old already so i might replace them soon. Im talking my "system" temps, which i assume is the chipset. my cpu is only in the mid 50s on load.

I have no idea what "System" means, and I wouldn't be so quick to assume it's the chipset. In any case, My chipset has been running at mid-70s for about a year and a half, folding almost non-stop. So I don't think that at low-mid 60s yours is in any imminent danger.

Three fan bay cooler would be ok placed in front of the hdd.

Whats your PSU? 12v line is awfully low....

zip tie a 120mm fan in front of them :)

=D i have one sorta infront of it...the way they are mounted blocks a lot of air flow.

should i just slap it in on the side pannel in front of the hard drives?

edit: hmm there isnt a lot of space between the side pannel and the hard drives. I have a tiny fan that might be able to fit in the gap. will try it and post results later.

2nd edit: the small little nb fan i had didnt work to cool the hard drives. But i did notice there was heat building on the bottom of my case so i stuck a pci slot cooler and it sucked out all that heat. temps are way down now.
