As has been said, semen and sperm are not the same thing. Sperm (plural is also sperm) are the microscopic, tadpole like things that are the male reproductive cell. Semen is a fluid made up of fluid secreted by different glands that carries the sperm. The sperm have to be kept in a fluid-like environment to survive.
