Probably been hashed out before, but I couldn't find my answers and didn't want to necro the threads that I did find

Does anyone have a step by step set of instructions for selling an unlimited VZW data plan?

Should I renew the contract first?

Doesn't Verizon throttle now over 5gb?

I'm not on VZW, but I believe they only say they do but it's not really enforced like ATT.
Or they only throttle if the tower is overloaded.

To optimize our network, we manage data connection speeds for a small subset of customers – the top 5% of data users on unlimited data plans – and only in places and at times when the network is experiencing high demand.

AT&T does that for grandfathered unlimited, after 5GB (some people aren't throttled, but they are the minority)

Verizon will start throttling unlimited users after Oct 2014, if all conditions below are met (they call it "network optimization")

http://9to5mac.com/2014/07/25/verizon-to-begin-throttling-certain-unlimited-4g-lte-customers/

  • Top 5% of data users (measured right now as using 4.7GB data or more) -> use more, bump up the 5% threshold!
  • Enroll in unlimited data plan or feature -> of course, if you're paying per GB, you won't like being throttled for something you actually pay for
  • Fulfilled minimum contract term -> if you are in a contract and Verizon changes terms on you, you can break contract w/o ETF
  • Using data on cell site that is experiencing high demand -> now, how does Verizon measure "high demand" ?

With those changes it would be hard to sell it unless the buyer is uninformed.

Holy thread crappers, Batman!

There's still a demand, even among the most informed (HoFo).

Sold mine for $400. Met the guy at a Starbucks. Got on the line with Verizon CS. He did an assumption of liability and gave his info. I got $400 and left.

I'm going to have to sell it on the forums or on ebay, the area I live in is full of non-tech people. They had iPhone 6's at my Verizon store for two days when everywhere else was sold out in a few hours at best.

Sucks

Looks like Verizon is backing off throttling. Prices for Unlimited plans might even go for more. Anyone know if its possible to keep your number if you sell it via "assumption of liability"? Thinking about unloading two lines on my brothers account.

There's a known hack... port to GV and, while it's processing (basically just after you put in the port request, though there's maybe a day's lag), request a new Verizon # for yourself from your My Verizon online dashboard.
