Selling Steam codes no longer allowed?

Previous discussion on selling Steam codes

I've noticed several locked threads selling bundled Steam codes (Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, etc.). I thought Steam codes were allowed, and if so, how is this different?

We are not arguing law here. We have already answered questions about selling the bundled games which violates AMD's TOS.

Exactly. The issue here is that selling those AMD codes isn't kosher according to AMD. And not that we're AMD's enforcers, but we don't want you guys to somehow get busted and lose your games because of it.

What happened to the first sale doctrine? If you obtain it on the open market, then you can re-sell it on the open market.

In Germany, even the Windows that comes with a new PC, can be removed and re-sold, seperate from the PC. (Probably why the Win8 OEM license keys are embedded in the BIOS, and there is no sticker on the PC, to discourage this practice.)

I'm disappointed that AT is preferring to uphold some corporations' ruling, rather than US law.
