Im selling a brand new iphone 4 on ebay, heres the listing:Sorry, no links to your own ebay auction on the AT forums - in FS/T or elsewhere. -Admin DrPizza
buy it now price is 800.

I get my first message:
Hello,
I have go through your listing and i realize that this item fits my search and hope you will consider selling this product for me? i will be paying 950 dollars for the item including the shipping and handling... i want you to get back to me with your paypal email for the transfer of the money and i want you to get the item off auction for me now as i will proceed with the transfer as soon as you get back to me.... thanks and God bless for keeping me up to date.. i wait to hear from you soon...

my second:
Dear Mate,
It is so nice viewing this item ads, I wounder if this item is still
available for sale? i love your item to send for my cousin in abroad,
then I will like to purchase it making an offer sum of $1,000 for this
item. Payment may be through PayPal then i will love you end the
auction and send me your PayPal money request for the payment..

Regards..
Mrs Mary (PayPal:xxxxxxxxxx@gmail.com
)
messanger(xxxxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com)
Tel:(xx xxx xxx xxxx)

and then my 3rd message by this genius:
Is this item still available for sale? if yes kindly send me your PayPal email.

I generally try to stay off ebay because of the amount of morons that you have to deal with. I've had this listing up for only 14 hours and got these messages. I really want to make this as painless as possible, so even if they might not be scams, i dont want to deal with selling internationally.

Do you think these are legit or scams? Sounds like a scam to me.

you're selling on ebay and they are trying to get you to do the deal outside of ebay.

QFT.

Another hint would be how they always say something like "it fits my search", or "it's a good fit for me", etc.

<sigh>

Just read through this page:

http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams

While it's a Craigslist page, not scambay, the same principles apply...

Sadly it screams scam

Of course, the 2nd one is already in love with you, so it's not a total loss ;)

When they ask you to take it off the auction to sell to them or they want to buy it for someone that is far away to send, its probably a scam.
