Selling my Wii, just ordered a 360

I just ordered a 360 pro holiday bundle from buy.com through American Express with almost the whole thing being covered by points. The part for me to cover? $15.38.

I expect to hard wire it to my network, use it as a media server (mostly for audio; stereo only). I've got an SDTV. Anything I need to know?

I'm an RPG guy, probably going to pick up fable II and fallout 3. Any other highly suggested titles? This is my first console since the N64 {I'm not counting the Wii on purpose :( } so even original xbox titles without ports to/from (like Baldur's Gate) would be good.

Any other must-have stuff?

If you're into RPGs there are a fair amount of good titles out for the 360. Here are a few of my favorites:

Lost Odyssey
Tales of Vesperia
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (make sure you get the GOTY edition with the expansion)
Mass Effect

I'm sure there are some other genres that you're into that you'll want games for as well but since you didn't give any others than RPGs I'll just list a few of my favorites:

Ninja Gaiden II (fast, furious & fun action/adventure game)
Left 4 Dead (AWESOME shooter, MUST have Live to play this game and truly get the full enjoyment out of it)
Grand Theft Auto IV (great sandbox game even if you can't do some of the wacky stuff that you could in the past)
Forza Motorsport 2 (if you're into sim style racing this one is for you)
Project Gotham Racing 4 (if you prefer arcade style racing this is a good one)

There are plenty more to list, just kind of depends on what you like to play. And just because you have an SDTV doesn't mean it can't do just fine for video media services. You might want to load Tversity on your PC so that it can transcode files that the 360 can't natively play. And if you do get an HDTV you'll be treated to some rather spectacular visuals.

Any chance you can hook your 360 up to your computer monitor for HD? I have a really tough time playing many 360 games in SD when we make the trek to my parents' house. I physically have to get up off the couch to read the text and even then it isn't clear. I think Too Human was the worst offender.

Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2 felt like entirely re-born games once I tried running them again on my HDTV.

EDIT: More on topic, Mass Effect has been my favorite RPG on the 360 so far. That includes Fallout 3, although it is also good.

For an RPG guy yeah, get Mass Effect, Lost Oddysey, Oblivion, and Fallout 3.

For original Xbox games get Jade Empire, the first Fable...probably another few I just can't think of off the top of my head.

I briefly pondered getting a Wii today since I have some Amazon store credit, but not being a Mario or Zelda fan there aren't many games I'd buy or rent. No More Heroes, Resident Evil 4, and . . . ?

Back on topic, do you have a PS2? There are stacks and stacks of JRPGs for it.

lol - I just sold my Wii and will be getting an Xbox 360 too :)

DaveSimmons - That's the reason I sold my Wii. Decent games come out once in 3 months or sth. Mind "decent". :p

Searching review sites I found that they agree with the guys on the games :)

When I first got my 360, I too was only using a SDTV, and you're right. I played the blue dragon demo it was a struggle to read the text. I bought an HDTV a few weeks later.

I have Oblivion and ME on the PC, I'll check out the other two.

GTA IV I've been interested in for a while - I'll totally check that one out.

My 32" tube is getting pretty long in the tooth; it's got some occasionally-annoying off-color areas of the screen & the sound gets flaky from time to time.

I'll probably be replacing it in the next year, but I'm probably looking at about $2500 for the replacement. It'll be a bit :)

Thanks for the help, guys.
