Ok, first I have a Dell 2405 FPW 24" LCD... 1920x1200 It's nice don't get me wrong and maybe I have the wrong idea but I know its only capable of displaying component HD..

This isn't a true HD monitor so am I loosing out on HD options and quality qwhen it comes to certain games? For instance..I was playing NFS: Undercover and it says at the beginning that its capable of EA HD and i check the options menu and dont see anything extrodinary in the settings.

If I had a monitor that would have an HDMI in...although I know that my video card doesn't have an HDMI out, so how would that help... but what about a monitor like this? Dell Monitor

How does this monitor compare to mine and would it be worth upgrading to something like this?

Thanks

I don't think price checks are allowed, but why don't you look around in the FS/FT forum or elsewhere online.

Hi, I could be wrong, however AFAIK, Full HD only requires a screen capable of 1080 horizontal lines, which yours is....Don't get confused with a HDCP device which is where a blue-ray player playing HD Protected content.

edit - whats a price check problem?, and why wouldnt you be allowed to do it here?

i would def NOT change ur 2405 to that dell monitor...

i'd upgrade to a larger 27in for a better movie viewing experience At 19x12 or a 30in.

the monitor u linked would be more of a downgrade...

OP - I'm not sure by what you mean in stating that your monitor isn't "true HD". True (or full) HD is 1920x1080, and your current monitor exceeds that.

Well I more meant that I wish it had an hdmi connection on it and not just component...however it would and is just for gaming...i have a 50" plasma that I use for television etc.. ive used a dvi to hdmi cable to game on that and it wasnt bad but I just assumed I was loosing resolution somewhere by doing that...

The only advantage to HDMI over DVI in most cases is the fact that it carries audio and supports HDCP. For a computer monitor, HDMI won't make any difference - you're fine with DVI. EA HD is just marketing speak - if you're playing a game at a high enough res, you're playing it in HD. At 1920x1200, you're getting higher resolution than 1080p (so you are getting "true HD").

In short, don't worry about HDMI - DVI's perfectly fine for a computer monitor.
