Has anyone had experience selling at CarMax? They have a link to Bluebook... Does that mean they pay Bluebook?

It's a 95 Maxima GLE with 94K miles... Good cond...

I sold a car there once. The reason I sold it there was that I was relocating so I had to get rid of a car immediately.

You won't get as much as you would selling it private party, but it's basically no-hassle. You take the car in, they appraise it, and make you an offer. They won't haggle very much, if at all, but I thought they offered a fair amount, so I took it. Plus, they can do all the paperwork for you if you used an auto manufacturer's financing.

The appraisal is free IIRC and there's no obligation, so if you don't like their offer, you don't have to take it.

Normally, I wouldn't sell a car there because you can get more money for it elsewhere, but if you are in a time crunch or if you don't want to spend the time selling it private party, it's not a bad way to go.

I sold a car I wasn't driving any more(89 Probe) to Carmax. I sold it to Carmax because I didn't want to take the time to privately sell a car that was essentially a moving time bomb. Anyhow, Carmax offered me $300. But they charged me $159 for various fees, so I left the shop with a $141 check. I probably should've traded it in for a Xbox or something. So my opinion is that don't sell it to Carmax if you want to get the most $$$ for your car.
