Well considering that I just ordered a dell 9300 for
$1,415.99 new
that included:
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (1.73 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
17 inch UltraSharp? Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife? (I can watch 1080i or 1080p HD stuff on the native res 1920x1200 of this baby!)
256MB NVIDA® GeForce? Go 6800 (for games the default x300 kinda sux)
80GB Hard Drive
512MB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
24X CD Burner/DVD reader
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps)
9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (80 WHr) w/ 128mb Memory Key (upgraded high capacity battery)
3Yr Ltd Warr,At-Home Service, and Tech Support plus Nights and Weekends (includinb CompleteCare Accidental Damage Servic, in case I drop it at school)

All of which seems better than the specs that google shows for the w1n at (except the memory): http://usa.asus.com/products/notebook/w1series/w1000n/w1000n_overview.htm

So I'm unsure why people would pay that much more for a used laptop with lesser features?

Ouch, a big ol' steamin pile!

So if this really was a mistake, why haven't you reposted it in FS/T?
In fact a quick search shows that you haven't posted in FS/T forum period (under 90 days or >90 days search)

Another quick check shows you dont even have your profile enabled which is another requirement for selling item on FS/T.

Lemme guess, you had no intention of ever posting it there, but wanted to get a large audiance checking it out, so you posted it here in hopes someone would see it anyway and PM you about it, then you claimed it was a mistake so you wouldn't get banned.

How far off target am I?

Tell me a reasonable explanation how I could be wrong and I'll remove this comment. I'm not an unreasonable person, I just get a tad bit upset when ppl try and take advantage of this great forum we have. Especially when it appears you are trying to find a gullible AT person who is willing to pay a pretty good amount more for a used item than its worth (since you can get a brand new one that has lots more features for less money).

Because Asus laptops are made of carbon fiber instead of plastic and are as sturdy as they come. Also, they are backed by an excellent warranty from a company who manufactures tons of laptops for IBM, Sony and Apple. Comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges. That being said, for hte price he is asking, I would look into something like the W3V, but to even suggest that Asus notebooks shouldn't command a huge price difference over Dell is just silly. These are in a completely different league of quality. I have customers who use a whole range of dell, IBM, Apple and Sony laptops and if you felt the difference, you would understand how awesome it is to have a completely sturdy piece of equipment with absolutely no screen flex or anything else like that.

wow, that's an easy question.
cause it's a dell! that means value goes down

Yeah but THAT much of a price differance? I mean we are talking differant generations of video cards, and 4x the vid card memory at a minimum. Then theres the significantly larger screen with better resolution, etc.

I'd rather get a longer warranty from dell than spend $300 or $400 or $500 (note that I'm guesstimating what additional it would cost in upgrades for screen and graphics card, etc) on simply a better case.

I mean if I really wanted a fancy case I'd get alienware 🙂
