Selling MSDNs?

Anyone know if it's legal to sell an MSDN? I have the 1/01 MSDN collecting dust on my shelf right now. I'd forgotten about it until someone on the FS list posted a want for part of an MSDN. That good ol' brightly lit dollar sign in my head switched on.

I looked on eBay and saw one of the same issue go for like $500. :Q I just wonder if it's legal to sell these, or if it would have to be done "on the sly" or something... I'd much rather have the cash or a LCD or something... 😀

Personally, I've always thought the licensing restrictions on software was a load of brown smelly stuff, but...

No, it's not legal. Software licensing might be crap, but if you break the law you'll goto jail. Yes... you might not get caught righ away, but are you willing to bet on the buyer of the auction not being MS? They buy their own pirated software all the time, why not MSDNs on ebay?

Wait a minute, I just read your post again Jugernot... This is NOT pirated software. This is the real thing with the cases and everything... I'm not copying the stuff, don't care. I've got access to the latest one if I need it, which I don't.

Probably not legal? If it was allowed you could easily make your money back - at work we have dozens and dozens of copies of the same software (not only same copy but same software versions). I don't know how many boxes we have full of these CDs/DVDs

It should be legal if you sell the WHOLE Package all at once WITH the Original EULA.

Certain MSDN subscriptions cost OVER $3000

GIVE MS a Call

This doesn't seem ambiguous to me
QUESTION: I've had an MSDN Subscription for some time now and have many old discs that are duplicates or that I simply don't use. Can I give them away or sell them?

ANSWER: No. You may only sell or transfer your MSDN Subscription as a whole, and you must transfer all materials received with the subscription to the new owner.

Go to this link and search for the word "sell"

From personal experience, MS has people or bots search eBay for it's software, sends you a nasty email & eBay shuts down your auction🙁

Happened to me when I simple mindedly thought I'd sell my old copy of O2K on eBay, however I didn't notice any bots on FS/FT here🙂

Sweet!!!! Thanks! Now to inventory the discs and see if I've still got 'em all. LoL

All discs must be transfered. Not just the first batch. Subscription renewals count as part of the original package.

You can not just dump the 2001 set and keep a 2002 or 2003 set.

I know, I said they by pirated software, so why wouldn't they do the same for MSDNs? In other words, they probably look for people selling MSDNs just like they do for pirated.
