Selling engagement rings?

edro

I know that resold wedding rings are like all over the place. They usually sell for like 1/100 of retail price. How have you sold one, or how has someone you know sold theirs?

They are only like 1 year old:
The Other One

The Engagement Ring

Ebay, Craigslist?

Try to find a local Jeweler to consign them is your best bet, or you can try the your local paper, make sure you have a valid and current appraisal of both pieces, you'll be lucky to get 1/3 to 1/4 of retail, used Jewelry is very hard specifically used bridal to sell, it's kind of like selling used underwear. Jewelry is 80% emotional value. Pawn shops typically pay cents on the dollar and are by far you worst option. Oh and have them professionally cleaned and polished as this will make all the difference, once it?s done correctly it can be almost impossible to tell used from new depending on how worn the piece is.

One more thin make sure you have them re-rhoduim plated, with out getting into a lot of detail this will help them look as white and bright as new.

First, I demand to know story behind said ring.

Second, I sold my engagement ring to my old roommate who promptly turned around and proposed to his gf with it, without telling her about it. link to thread

Third, don't sell to pawn shops, they'll rip you off.

Fourth, I would get it appraised if you don't have a certificate, then list it on ebay showing the actual value of the ring.

i hate to buy worn ring, it brings bad luck. :disgust:
why sell something that only you and another person who treasures them? isn't something like this suppose to be kept forever? the ring has no real value, it's the thought that counts.
if its just for a little money find another way to make money without losing something of great value to you.

The couple are no longer together, and the woman would like to get as much cash as she can.

I will tell her to get them professionally cleaned and buffed, then contact some local jewelry shops or something.
