I just bought something on ebay that was a burnt cd off a orginal. I thought it was the orignal, but it wasn't. Now! he is selling the copy cd on ebay again that I won. Is this illegal or what? the game is counter-strike server cd? I dunno if it's illegal or not? I even paid $22 for a copy cd? I won't do anything about it to that guy, just wanna know! by the way, I sold the same copy I bought at ebay for $13, but email the buyer just to send me $5 (cover shipping), so basically I gave the buyer for free. This will be the last time I will buy any kind of cd. I regret it though, but it all good.

thanks

There is no such thing as a CS "Server" cd AFAIK.

Even if there is, its not legal.

I bet he just burned the mod to a cd and is selling it.

I was searching for Radiohead's "Towering Above the Rest" 10 CD set on ebay the other day, and there was one for $5. He said he had no album art or cases but had the album art as .jpgs on his computer, that he could email them to the buyer. This made me suspicious so I did not bid... Anyway I emailed the guy to ask about it, after the auction ended (at $42!) he said "Sorry bro they're burned." Makes me wonder how much burned stuff is being sold on ebay

Link to the auction? I would like to see the wording on this auction. If he just burned a freeware file such as a mod for CS, I believe it would be ok for him to sell a CD with it on it. It may be breaking a contract stating that freeware cannot be resold, but if he said that he is selling the service of making the CD, then it may be legal.

yea! I did bought it (I had no choice, I didn't want a bad reference if I didn't paid for it, so I had to paid for the cd) and sold it back the next day, I haven't test the cd out (same copy). I was thinking starting a rental game server, but found out later that you can install cs server for free through telnet/ssh. anyway! my hosting was not meant for game server, so I said screw it. I just wanna know though if it's illegal to slang copy cd.. but I'm not that guy who would slang a copy cd on ebay.

HAHAHHAHAHA! Buying counter-strike "server cd" on ebay? Buahahahahahahaa!!!

Counter-strike is copyrighted. It is a free download, check www.counter-strike.net for a list of mirrors. "counter-strike" server is also a free download too.

How stupid can you be? I would try researching an item I am looking at before bidding it.

So are you aloud to burn freeware and sell it? I suppose the price would be for your troubles to burn it, not the software itself?
