Selling builds on E-Bay

Is it possible to buy a bunch of parts off Newegg, put them together, and sell the resulting computer on E-Bay for any kind of profit? I do enjoy the actual building aspect of getting a PC, and the little bit of extra income would be nice.

Obviously selling them here on the FS/T forum wouldn't work because everyone here is technically knowledgeable enough to probably enjoy the building aspect as well. None of them are going to want to pay a premium for an pre-assembled PC.

So yeah, does anyone do this? Does it work? Would it be smarter to make high-end or low-end PCs to sell? Just looking for any insight, thanks.

Chances are, you'll never be able to turn a profit.

Buying retail you won't be able to compete with big business.

The only way most of these buy and build sysem's work is if you offer something extra along with the PC. Like an OC, free Vista or XP, more memory, bigger screen, etc etc. And then it will still take some time to start gaining money instead of spending it all on the next build.

One successful scammer could cost you the profit from 15+ sales to honest buyers.

You're probably better off seeing if any of the local computer shops around you will pay an hourly wage for part-time assembly work.

are you going to support these systems too? hell, you'd kill yourself on shipping alone most likely. you'll never be able to offer the low cost and support that a company like Dell offers.

Yeah, guess I hadn't thought this thing out too well. Oh well, it was a nice idea. :)

Thanks for setting me straight folks.
