I have an old HDTV I'd like to get rid of and the thing weighs almost 200lbs. I'ts a very specialized item so how would I go about placing this on eBay? Of course I'd encourage people to come and look at it- but then how do I manage eBay fees if they pay me on the spot?

......

What is the difference between being paid on the spot and them sending you a check or money order?

You simply state LOCAL PICKUP ONLY and WILL NOT SHIP as many times as you can in the biggest font you think is reasonable in your auction.

I think you misunderstand. I wouldn't expect someone to purchase this blind.
But it makes sense if they want to pay for it and take it away.

How does eBay know the amount paid, since I'll probably barter down the price? Is there a certain way to settle fees with eBay for items purchased off-line?

When listing the item I believe you can specify local pickup as an option.

Make sure to clearly state your city, state, zip code and even neighborhood in the ad stating you will NOT ship the TV. Only local pick up.

eBay fees are usually debited from your bank account once a month. Remember your fees depend on the winning bid price so if it's high your eBay fees will be high.

Mermaidman, I was sort of thinking that.

Essentially all I want to do is use eBay as a "want-ad" thing, because so many people use it- even more than the local papers. But I don't expect anyone to bid on a product like this unless they see it, and once they do they'll decide on-the-spot if they want it.

It's this monitor btw:
Panasonic DT-M3050W

I'll probably ask $500 for it because it has some phosphor wear on the sides of the screen.

Oh, I see.

...... well uhh, if they're bidding on it.. then there is a final price, right? You don't need to barter. If you want to barter, put it in your local paper $XXX OBO.
