"seller refurbished" motherboards... worse than "manufacturer refurbished"?

Just like the title asks. Are they?

I'm picturing some nerd in a computer shop replacing/soldering a bad capacitor without knowing how to truly run full diagnostics on the specific mobo.

I would assume that the board was used, POST-tested, and not much else.

"Seller Refurbished"... that's a good one. The guy probably just updated the BIOS, blew the dust off of the board, and put it back into it's original packaging.

Lol. Looks like I was giving them too much credit in my OP.

"seller refurbished" is a category on eBay by the way, judging from some items I've seen listed. It sounded dodgy, and it is it seems.

From what I'm seeing at the place I work at, the company seems to be using 3rd party technicians for on-site repair, but things keep coming back because they just aren't fixing things right (like not connecting cables properly or just outright replacing the wrong components).

The original manufacturer simply knows their own products best.
