I gave up on my search for an RX7... way too hard to find a decent 1994/95 (for the better interior) R1 or R2 trim (no sunroof)
somewhere along the lines the car was spun into what I would guess is a pole. I knew the fender had been sprayed, but seller said it was scratched down to metal and was just a repaint... never pulled off the body. He showed me where it was damaged, said no dent/damage, just scratched. I wanted to to pull the front bumper off to clean up a couple things and we decided to look at what was under the fender seeing there was one little indication something was a miss once we got it up on the hoist, but not in the area the seller showed. much further back closer to the door. We pulled the fender and found a nice bit of damage on the upper outer wheel house and lower rocker. You couldn't see this from inside the door jam, hood was never adjusted or painted, and door was never adjusted Further the lower pinch welds and seam were perfect, not indication there and the fendor fit really well. a very slightly bigger gap between it and the door towards the bottom. Nothing showed on 3 different runs of the vin.
it billed 6.5 hrs on the frame rack today at the shop -> it was $415 bucks, and it will need a little finishing work to make it 100%, but the meat of the issue is resolved
I have one panel that will need to be painted that I take responsibility for missing when looking the car over, so that will eat into the money I budgeted
I hate to sound like I am b!tching and moaning over this, but if I didn't have the connections I have, it would have been more in the thousands to make right.
It could have been MUCH worse and have to consider myself lucky it wasn't.
I have to take into account the age and price, and knowing the car will need a little here and there, but when I was thinking TLC, I figured a little wrenching here and there, some tires, maybe a little lipstick (pdr work and buff job)
other than this the car is really clean. i'll have into it what the car is worth, but it was the cheapest S2000 I could find with this low of miles. I have the resources and network to make it right, so I should take solace in that
