Sell X800XL now or keep it?

I just bought the ATI card because I'm building a new system, but should I instead sell it then use that money towards the next gen of cards coming out? I'm waiting on Antec to release that P180 case before I buy the rest of the stuff. Anybody know when the new cards will be available? How much better will they be?

y did u buy the XL if u plan to sell it now....i guess u could sell it and get a higher performing part, it all depends on u...the new cards from Nvidia will be paper launched next month and released to the market around August.

What? wth you gonna sell the card which is probably the best performer-for-money today? If you're planing to upgrade at ATI... as for their newcoming i think they wouldn't be available until Q4 at least(i mean the ones based on r530 or so)

Why sell it? "Next Gen" cards, even if they're released soon, will have their prices jacked up so far above MSRP as to make even the wealthy think twice. It'll be quite a while before these cards come down to a reasonable level.

Your X800XL is a fine card. I say just keep it and enjoy it.

Loads of people are queuing to buy the X800XL because it's such a bang for the buck and offer good performance right now. So why would you sell it?

The next gen cards would be twice as expensive. In hardware world you always buy the second generation cards and upgrade to the current better generation card when even the next generation cards are out; Unless you are a rich guy who dones't care about money that rule applies to everyone of us.

btw if you are selling it you can sell it to me 😛

Seems you're suffering from "buyers remorse".

Whenever I build a new pc, I buy the video card last because video cards drop in price faster than all other components due to new faster cards coming out so quickly and at ~regular frequencies.

I'd say the x800xl will cost <$225 in 2-3 months from now.

Could be more or less depending on the availability of the new models.

How much did you spend on the card and when will you actually have all the other parts to build your PC?

Keep your X800XL, next gen cards will be so expensive at 1st and un-necessary as most games to date don't need it.

Figure this, the Nvidia 7800 = 6800U SLI performance, how many games right now need this much perf???

It will cost $500+ until atleast holiday 05'

Your card will last you for atleast a year and your CPU probably will get upgraded 1st.

if anyone is still looking for a good X800XL, I have the best. thats right, the best 🙂
My card is #1 in all three 3dmarks - in 01 it is #1 by almost 2k over #2, at over 37, 000. took xtreme cooling to do it, bu tit still outclocks any x800xl using the same cooling.
There is no problem with the card, I just don't see the point in trying to to beat my own records, and want to move on to a different project.

if anyone wants it. email

I'm getting my 800XL on monday. Cant get it installed until friday though. I'm expecting around 20-25k 3dmark 01 stock. Hopefully over 30k overclocked.

A bit over 10k in '03 stock and hopefully 12-14k Overclocked

'05. Dont know what kind of scores I should expect here...

Yanagi: I just put together a 939/X800XL system. Card is an Asus. Nothing is tweaked yet (not even driver cleanups), but for a quick reference I ran some 3DMock loops to test the card out for working condition:

'01 - 24xxx
'03 - 106xx
'05 - 47xx
