Hey everybody, so AMD's R9 cards have been released, Nvidia's 780Ti has been released, and I'm not so sure what to do, if anything.
Here are my current specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($209.98 @ Outlet PC)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($124.98 @ Outlet PC)
Memory: Corsair XMS 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($67.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card
Power Supply: XFX 650W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($59.99 @ NCIX US)

Unfortunately, it looks as if my GTX 670 FTW Signature 2 has been discontinued :( Sad day.
So my options now are SLI with a different brand (not a big deal to do) or try to sell my card at some point and buy a better card (780Ti, 290, 290X).
So what should I do? And if SLI, is my PSU powerful enough?
Suggestions are welcome :)
Oh and not sure if this'll help, but I would most likely wait for custom heatstink/coolers on the 290/X before going with that (if that's the best option)

Might depend a bit on what you are playing and at what res?

Personally I lean toward a single higher end card VS two lower range in SLi or CF...just fewer issues.

But if you're playing at 4k.....dual 780's or dual 290's it is!!

sell the 670 and get a custom R9 290, preferably the asus dcii top as its the quietest cooler.

for $335 go for the 670 in sli. I have 2 gigabyte windforce gtx 670 oc w 2 gb cards. I also have the 3570 (OC to 4400 MHz), 32 GB of Corsair RAM @ 11600 MHZ (10-10-10-27), boot drive is 256 gb OCZ vertex 4. It rocks. I could go for triple sli or you could do 2x SLI. I put a H80i CPU with fans a plenty in the CM Storm Trooper Case. I get incredible benchmarks on setting my Korean special :) 27" 2560x1440 all settings maxed out. The point is the 2nd 670 is cheaper, a known quantity and will give you (and certainly me) all the performance you would ever need for at least 3 years. If you want a r9 290 or 290x wait at least 6 months until Asus, Gigabyte, etc come down with a much better cooling sytem than the stock garbage AMD has on these cards

You can get gtx 670s at a significantly lower price over at OCN if you really want to sli. I haven't had any problems on my end running sli gtx 680s.

I'm going to be playing "next gen" games like BF4, Ghosts, Titanfall, etc etc.
If i sell my card for ~$250 and use the money that would have gone toward a second card, also ~$250, I'd have $500 for a card. The best option at that price is the R9 290 (when custom coolers come out).
Is a single 290 better than SLI 670s?

No, before factoring in OC'ing, SLI 660 Ti are about even with a R9 290, so SLI 670 would put it over.

I'm in the same boat as you, already sold my two 7970's and then realized how terrible of a price / perf the end of 20nm is turning out to be.

I basically downgraded for $100 but then the sting of needing a cooler, and then said "eff it I'll wait."

Try to find a used 670, I'm sure with the price cuts and stuff (and holidays) the used market will be banging. I'd recommend riding this gen into the sunset haha.

I was in the exact same boat as you a couple weeks ago. I managed to pick up a lightly used 670 for ~200 dollars, so I decided against selling and grabbing a 780. I must say I'm amazed at how well SLI works and 2x670s is a BEAST setup. I'd definitely pick up a used 670 on the cheap and stick with them through Maxwell.

I defended CFX and after giving up due to my issues (which might ended up being a CPU bottleneck, not too sure) I'm hoping the SLI experience is a little greener (pun intended) why I'm going to finish this gen SLI 660 Ti.
