Sell off the SLI for one 7800 GTX?

Reasoning:

- I personally put $840 into my two cards, and I feel I could make ATLEAST $700 of that back.. So if I sell them for a 7800 GTX, I could potentially be getting money back for more performance

- Some of us just will admit they are technology mongers.. and if they want something, they will find a way to get it.. I know I am

Of course not, the 7800GTX will still improve performance over the 6800 SLI.

7800GTX > 6800U's in SLI, so why the heck not, you can sell your 6800GT's get a better performing card, and put money back in your wallet..

did you really have to make two threads about the exact same subject within 15 minutes of eachother?

Well no I didn't gUEv.. but I thought the poll might be a bit more useful for everyone after my initial post.. now did you really need to waste your time on forum patrol and be a c*ck sucker? because I think that's a better question.

What kind of monitor do you have? And what games and settings are you playing that SLI'd 6800GT's can't handle? Are do you just want the latest and greatest? I can't imagine a senario currently that would choke down a pair of 6800GT's, except maybe a totally non SLI game on max resolution and eye candy.

7800gtx, just so you can say you can do sub surface scattering in realtime and make all the raytracing 3dsmax whores drool koolaid on their counter culture t-shirts.

I might take offense to that if it wasn't so true 😀

Get rid of the 6800GTs while you can, get a 7800GTX now. Upgrade to the next level card when the time comes. SLI is pretty much pointless, so just stick with a single card.

Sell 6800GTs, put in 7800GTX. Why the hell not?
Actually I change my mind. 7800GTX is definately overpriced now. Wait a 4-5 months. It's not like a new game will be released and you'll start lagging out.

Get the 7800GTX because a single card solution that equals SLI performance in all games including those that nvidia has yet to make an SLI profile for is simply better. As mentioned above, if you can get $700 for your current setup, and a 7800GTX is only ~$600 it's a no-brainer.

Yeah, but the new card they are working on to dominate the r520 may be a better upgrade even yet! I think I'm going to wait a couple months.. if that makes me lose some cash so be it. Maybe I will get a 7800 GTX, but I definately want to see more manufacturers first.

Oh yeah, I've been doing a lot of research, and from what I've seen.. most games are equal to or worse than my rig on 1 7800 GTX.. can someone specifically clarify to me that given my current system specs.. i would benefit clearly here here and here.. you know what I mean? by the way, I appreciate the help very much..

I also am considering a new processor and another GB of memory.. any input on those while we are at it with the video cards?
I'd say another gig of memory, your processor is fine, trust me.

Let me tell you that my SLI is hardcore.. you don't believe it until you see.. only reason i'm doing this post is because I will GET MONEY BACK and have equivalent pefromance at better visual quality.. AND UPGRADE ROOM for SLI 7800 GTX.. but I think the best solution is to wait a little bit more until I see what is offered..
