I have a unibody Macbook Pro I bought back when they were first announced in like December. I've been thinking of upgrading to the 17 inch seeing as I use my macbook pro as a primary PC when I go to school. Would I get enough for this one to cover most of the 17 inch cost? Its still in just as good of shape as it was when I first got it and I still have the retail box.

Also do you feel the upgrade is worth it? This one doesn't have the new battery they put into the new unibody macbooks. Also how much do you think I could get for my 15 inch MBP.

Depending on specs, you'll probably get around 1500 for it. There are refurbs from Apple for $1350ish for the 15".

The 17" is nice, but it sounds like you travel with your laptop a lot for school, so I'm not sure if the upgrade would be worth it to you. If I were you I would wait for the new refresh late this year or early next year.

It doesn't seem worth it to me unless you have a strong preference for the 17" form factor and can deal with lugging such a large computer around. Personally I think 15" is better for school, and 13" is arguably even better. This is all about personal preference, though, so YMMV.

I'm not really lugging it around as much. Possibly next year when I'm at the university yeah but right now I'm at dorms in a satellite campus and my walk is maybe a quarter mile.

I'd stick with the cheapest one that will suit my needs if its staying on a campus... Who knows what can go on there ;)
