Sell GM's stock people...Or Not?

That car is kinda funky looking. If it's cheap and gets good Mileage(I assume it does), it'll Sell. I wouldn't be surprised if an 800cc version gets sold here, remember the 3 Cylinder Chevy Sprint? Not sure what those engines were cc/L wise, but they were small and sold in North America. People are going to Buy really cheap Cars for the next couple years and they're not going to be worried about the usual factors.

I'd sure take one of these over a Smart ForTwo, as long as the extra ~30 inches of length wasn't a problem.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I think that may be the ugliest car I have ever seen. I think putting a GM brand on a Daewoo that will likely be a first timers car is a great way to permanently send people to Honda/Toyota. They've been doing this since the mid '80's, and it works almost every time.

As others have said, this car isn't in the same class as other subcompacts like the Fit, Fiesta, and Yaris, Aveo, and Versa. The Spark is tiny. Nearly a foot shorter overall than the Aveo hatch. The Euro spec Spark will come with 1.0 and 1.2L motors.

There will be a new Aveo. We just haven't seen it yet.

IMO GM is going down regardless of what kind of cars they can make now.

Nobody is buying GM cars because of the fear of them going under, and it's having a snowball effect.

Hopefully there will not be too much economic pain as a result.

why doesn't this guy get shitted on for being un-"patriotic" and not having a GM car in his driveway?

this IS true information tho, AND WE'RE ALL PAYING FOR IT RIGHT NOW.

where do you think their bailout money is coming from? from our tax.

My Honda Civic's engine is made in the USA, whereas the engine in a Chevy Equinox is made in China. You do the math.

That's the only engine made over there (I was actually unaware that it was). I can get any single example that goes against the norm for any manufacturer.

There are plenty of examples of domestic cars that have a higher foreign content than various "imports".

But like I said it goes both ways. I don't see your point.

It's because he doesn't seek out every single thread about american car makers, make unfounded claims, and act like any foreign maker can do no wrong while all american makers cannot possibly make anything decent.

Basically, he is thinking rationally and discussing the issue. You are acting like the american auto industry took a crap on a family member's grave. Sorry, but ranting and raving on a forum about things you apparently do not understand does not make you any more of a man.

Problem is, one says/advertises its products are American, while the others don't say/advertise they are American.

Also, another funny thing is that this Spark is pretty much foreign car (Korean), as well as other great GM cars like G8 as well. It would be interesting to see Chevy running another "Buy American" marketing with Spark and Aveo in their showroom.

yikes...investing in a company that has gone public with threats of bankruptcy.

Go ahead, buy GM stock...see what happens when they file.

If I had a thousand bucks extra right now I'd sure do it. Yes, its possible I'd lose it all, but if they don't go into bankruptcy it would be worth tons in a few years. Same with citigroup. To make a higher profit you take higher risks.

that logic is probably why you DON'T have an extra thousand

This has been discussed many times before since the beginning of the auto bailout/bankruptcy talk first started. Yes, there are foreign transplants. Yes, domestics market autos that are made abroad and use a lot of parts that are made abroad. However, domestic automakers by leaps and bounds employ more workers in the USA and use far less foreign content in their autos.
