sell cd key w/o software?

can i sell a license w/o having the original disc? like i have a manual for win98se with the oeiginal certificate of authenticity and cd key printed on it, but cannot find the disc...also have a xp home oem license, but cant find the disc...can i sell it as long as i include a piece of hardware?

hrm interetsting question. i know departments here at school order 100 licenses all the time. they just buy one media for a 100 pc lab and get the licenses, not sure on individual resale though.
 
not sure if it's legal or not, but since it's not allowed in the for sale/for trade forum i'd assume it's not.
 
could the reason its not allowed in FS/FT is because of the uncertainty of transfering cd-key info online? im not sure, didnt see that particular issued addressed in the rules yet.
 
certianly seems possible that thats the reason...of course whether you owned the original cd or not you could just as easily have transfered the info online...
