Self Relocating Icons on Windows XP

Every time I restart my system, the icons either relocate themselves in their original location... or... they spread at random across my desktop.

Any ideas on what would be causing this?

I updated and ran McAfee virus scan, but it continues to occur... I also set McAfee to find macro viruses, unwanted programs, and I set it to search in archives... to no avial.

Please help!

If you right-click on the desktop, do you have "auto arange" selected under "arange icons by"?

One of the biggest "features" of NT-based Win32 GUI OSes that is actually far worse than their ancient Win9x counterparts, which didn't usually tend to do those things.
